Here in the USA we will be observing Memorial Day this weekend. Officially, it is a day to commemorate the courage and sacrifice of all who died serving in the armed forces over the years… but to me it has always had a much wider scope.

When I was a child, the elders of the family would take flowers to the graves of all our deceased relatives on Memorial Day. So, in my mind it was a day for remembering and honoring all the loved ones who had passed from this earthly plane.

This day offers far more than an occasion to remember or revere the past. It can be a reminder and an opportunity to seize the present, and to create a future free from unnecessary regrets.
